Looking for more action than with whitewater rafting? This is the perfect adventure for those who have already done whitewater rafting and are looking for their next challenge. Whitewater kayaking is a fun way to discover rivers.
This guide-assisted adventure is suitable for both beginner and experienced paddlers but if you are not yet ready to paddle the class III and IV rapids of the Lower Elk River, you can start with a half-day trip on the upper section of the Elk River. It is a great place to experience white water for the first time with class I and II rapids.
Inflatable kayaking is one of the best and most exciting river activity. Inflatable kayaks are ideal for people looking for a little more excitement and who want to be in control of their own craft. They are very stable, maneuverable, and great fun.
Upper Elk Trip
Enjoy outstanding views of the Elk Valley while floating through Fernie. This half-day scenic run is perfect for beginners with minimal splashes, and class I and II rapids.
If you have a family or group of friends with mixed interests and abilities, you can combine a scenic float and kayak trip so that everyone is happy!
Raging Elk Canyon Trip (August only)
This full-day trip is great for adrenaline seekers (beginner and experienced paddlers alike) with 16 km of class II, III, and IV rapids.
As soon as your kayak leaves the river bank, you will ride your first rapids. From then on it will be rapid after rapid until lunch time. As the day progresses, you'll find your paddling technique improve as well as your confidence!
While you enjoy the scenery and pose for pictures taken by our photographer, the guides will get lunch ready for you. You will enjoy a well-deserved and delicious riverside picnic made of build-your-own wrap, fresh fruits, and cookies.
After your lunch break, you will get back on the river for more rapids down the canyon. Towards the end of the trip, the river becomes gentler, and there is an opportunity to do some cliff jumping and swimming in the mellower section of the river.
After taking your kayak off the water and stepping into dry clothes, you will hop on the bus for the ride back to the base where you can view the photos taken during the day.
Not quite ready yet to paddle class III and IV rapids on your own? Try whitewater rafting. You will paddle the same section of the river but on a bigger boat and with a team.
